2026.10.26 - From Here to The Future
It's been over 9 years since I closed Blyka's Door. Things have changed so much, both in my life and the world... and Windows. Enough to have somehow broken the music plugins used in this site's primary games, rendering them difficult to start and hollow to play.
I've been aware of the problem for a long time, but unsure what--if anything--could be done about it. Recently, I worked to determine that there is no obvious fix that could be done from the user's end, leaving only two options: abandon my years of hard work to rot, or update the games themselves to use a different music system (practically impossible on old Game Maker) and then expect you to download 10-15 year old games over again just to restore basic playability.
Neither option sounded appealing.
But it got me thinking... I still love these old games, but goodness knows my dev experience has come far since then, exposing so many simple ways they could be vastly improved. If the only solution was to update them anyway, I could find a lot more to do than a mere music fix.
And so, after finally discovering viable means by which to fix the music, I've since been working on the idea of a "Definitive Edition" series of updates for these games! Testing the waters with the smaller title, first up we have:
Green Biker Dude v2.0
It was always a fun novelty, but as a game? GBD had a lot of problems. This update's change log grew substantially as I went about polishing and improving, but most notable is the resolution upgrade from 320x240 to 480x270, giving essential space for reaction time.

This alone really helped, so much so that I even added a Hard Mode! I also improved the score system, added score pop-ups, and made mountains of other improvements; find the full change log under Releases on the game's page. It's still just a little game that doesn't pretend to be more than it is, but I feel like this update finally made it a viable experience. I hope you enjoy it!
Blyka's Door v3.0
You may have also noticed that things look a bit different around here! With new game updates underway, I decided Blyka's Door could also use some work... or a rebuild from the ground up, actually. The previous version was made in 2009, using tables and antiquated CSS. A bit sad to bid the old pixel styles farewell, but they certainly had their run, and I felt the time had come for something clean and mobile-friendly.
Internal upgrades aside, there are more changes across the site than I care to log here, but it should be noted that all the URLs have changed. Content revisions happened all over, and the Home page was removed, passing that role on to the Games page. Troubleshoot joined the top navigation, because these games are old. And I went ahead and added The Bonnes Win Against Volnutt for the sake of completion.
The Future
Life is presently a whirlwind of chaos and uncertainty, so I make no promises, but I'd like to hope we can look forward to:
- "Definitive Edition" updates for Mega Man Endless, SuperDanny Powered Up, and SuperDanny 2.
And I'll want to update the TL5IA demo just to fix its music at some point. - I need to look into this more, but if it works out, I'm thinking I'd like to open source these games once their updates are done.
- More site work. I'd hoped to do better content revision during the rebuild as there's a lot of old text and things that could really use it, but I don't have the time just now. The About page also needs some filling in, and I'd like to do something a bit fancier for the Games page.
Whether you're an old timer who still cares about my old games, or a newcomer interested in their revisions, thank you so much for reading! Here's hoping we'll meet again. :)
